Our next shipment of Companion Bike Seats arrives at the Port of Long Beach, CA tomorrow. It will take a couple of days to clear customs and get delivered to us from the port, but we expect to be shipping out bike seat orders again as early as February 20th!

Great news! We renegotiated with the factory earlier this week and they agreed to lower their minimum order size to 500, which means we can move forward immediately. We placed our next order this morning and they will start making bike seats again next week. If all goes well, we'll have the next 500 Companion Bike Seats available by mid-February! These next 500 bike seats will all come with a black frame and seat cushion, and will include the locking stash-box. We officially launched our Kickstarter campaign today for Companion Bike Seats! Our first hundred bike seats were successfully delivered late in September, and we've since sold out of them all. Great news, except that when we went back to our factory to place another order for more bike seats, they increased the minimum order size from a hundred to a thousand.
We received confirmation from our shipper this morning that our first hundred Companion Bike Seats have arrived in Los Angeles!
"Cargo is customs cleared and we are waiting for the container to get to the warehouse and unloaded so I can deliver." It will still be another week or so before they arrive at our "warehouse" in Southern California, but we are absolutely still on schedule to ship out initial pre-orders during the first week of October! Confirmation came early this morning: the first hundred Companion Bike Seats are on a boat headed across the Pacific as we speak! They were loaded and shipped out on Friday last week and will take two weeks to cross the ocean. From there, it's another two weeks to unload, clear customs, and get shipped to our "warehouse" in Southern California (a garage for the time-being).
All in, we expect to receive these first bike seats on Friday, Sept. 27th. We'll be reviewing and spot-checking the lot over the weekend, and will ship out initial orders during the first week of October! The wait is almost over ... one more month to go. Watch out world, Companion Bike Seats are coming! We were initially expecting the first shipment of bike seats to be on a boat headed for Los Angeles by the middle of August. However, due to unforeseen delays from customs, we just received confirmation that the first shipment will leave China this Friday, Aug. 30th.
Factoring in transit time across the ocean and then from the harbor to our warehouse, we expect to be shipping out the first pre-ordered bike seats the first week in October. Though a little disappointing we've slipped a couple weeks from our delivery date, it is very exciting to have confirmation on a shipping date! More to come once they're actually on the boat headed our way! We learned today there's a heat wave ravaging the area where our factory is located (almost 110°F!) and they had to take a couple days off from making bike seats. Despite the slight delay, we are still targeting our shipping date of Sept. 9th for initial pre-orders!
We finally received an official delivery date from the factory! The first hundred Companion Bike Seats will be finished middle of August, and will be arriving in Los Angeles the first week of September.
We'll be officially ending pre-orders effective Friday, Sept. 6th and expect to be shipping out the first pre-orders the week of Sept. 9th. If you're planning on ordering one and have been waiting until we have a delivery date, now is the time before it's too late! We'll be keeping a countdown of the remaining bike seats from the first shipment that are available for order as well as a countdown to the delivery date. Stay tuned! Confirmed with the factory, we're moving forward with production! And better yet, learned from the factory today that the frames are already built! That means they'll be able to finish up the first hundred very quickly. We should have a delivery date very soon!
