I took Companion Bike Seat out for an early morning ride down Valencia Street in the Mission, and passed a cafe playing some music as they were prepping for the day. Of course I just had to dance!

I heard back from the factory this week on manufacturing progress for the backrests, and we now have a delivery date for completion! They'll be finished and ready to ship on August 10th. From there, it will take another three to four weeks for freight shipping across the Pacific Ocean to San Francisco. Once I receive them, I'll prep all of the pre-orders and will ship them out immediately after!
If all goes according to plan, the backrests will be shipping out right around Labor Day, just in time for back-to-school! I also have some great news about the pannier hooks. Now that the backrests are almost complete, I've started working with the factory on prototyping the new pannier hooks for the bike seat! Initial prototyping will take about 7 to 10 days, and I'll share pictures of the progress made as soon as I have them back from the factory. More updates to come soon! Maxine comes home to find her and her boyfriend's apartment as clean as a whistle. She texts him to thank him, and gets a cryptic response about their "special day" though she can't for the life of her remember what the occasion is. But, going along with it, she runs all over town on her bicycle, picking up various gifts and things for dinner. All is revealed to her when her boyfriend finally gets home that evening. Check it out! This is the short-video that we shot a couple of months ago down in the Silverlake and Hollywood areas in So Cal. Directed by Brandon Martin and edited by Timothy Rogan, it's a fun little film that features Companion Bike Seat to help Maxine get everything she needs.
This is the shorter version of the video. We'll be releasing a longer version in a couple of weeks that elaborates a bit more on Maxine's escapades while riding around town. Back in March we had a customer in the UK pre-order a backrest for his bike seat and he asked about a seat belt for Companion bike seat. He has an 8 year old son that he bought the bike seat and backrest for, and wanted to make sure he could be safely buckled-in while out on a bike ride. I told him that we didn't have anything available right then, but I would work start working on a solution once we got closer towards releasing the backrest for our bike seats. Since we're about a month away from the first backrests being shipped out, I finally made it over to the hardware store to start working on a seat belt for the bike seat. Turns out my neighborhood hardware stores had everything I needed to make a fully functional, removable seat-belt for the bike seat that can be strapped on to the the backrest. I plan on doing some user-testing with this seat-belt over the next couple of weeks, and if it works well and is comfortable, I'll make these new seat-belts for the bike seat available for sale on the website soon after!
